Lucid Dreaming questions?

Asked: Lucid Dreaming questions?

My friend told me about Lucid dreaming, and now I kinda wanna try it. I've done some research on it and I have some questions about a couple things.

1) Is it dangerous? Like, could it make you not be able to breathe or paralyze you permanently? I've heard of "sleep paralyze" and from what I understand its just when your body relaxes when it sleeps.

2) When your Lucid Dreaming are you fully asleep? or is your body only half asleep from lack of your brain relaxing? Or is your brain relaxing anyway?

3) Once you begin Lucid Dreaming are you stuck sleeping like that forever? Like can you never just lay down and sleep again normally or will you always have to lucid dream?

4) What do people mean when they say you can't wake up during a lucid dream? What if it was a scary dream and I couldn't wake up? I don't want that… So can you wake up?

5) what is it like? Is it easy? Hard? Is it scary? Because from the horror stories I've read it scares me… Is it cool or WHAT? I just wanna know.

Please answer soon! AND PLEASE ANSWER AS SIMPLY YET UNDERSTANDABLE AS POSSIBLE!
Thanks in advance, a curious 13-year-old

Why can’t I fly in lucid dreams?

Asked: Why can’t I fly in lucid dreams?

I've had atleast 15 in the two months I've known about them.. I've only been able to fly in one. And I can't spawn people / change people into objects. I know you have to EXPECT it will happen and I always do. When I try to fly I say "I can fly. It's possible and it's easy." I start to run then jump, and fall right back down. Also, when I try to spawn people, I close my eyes and say "When I open my eyes they'll be in front of me." They never are. Please explain what I'm doing wrong????

Is lucid dreaming scary and how do you do it?

Asked: Is lucid dreaming scary and how do you do it?

I read somewhere about how amazing lucid dreaming is and that it's an out of body experience however I've heard others have head scary noises and have had horrible lucid dreams and because you can't move it's worse so I'm scared to do it. Plus I don't know how to do it so it would be nice for someone to tell me how to do it icon smile Is lucid dreaming scary and how do you do it?

Lucid dreaming help…..?

Asked: Lucid dreaming help…..?

Alright so I went into sleep paralysis last night.. My body was fully asleep. I just tried to dream, and It never happened.. I waited for about 30 minutes of just laying down (after my body was asleep.) Then I got impatient, and woke myself up, changed positions, and went to sleep. I even took a nap today, and haven't had one. Take note, I have had dozens of lucid dreams before, I just am having a hard time having them, again.

Wil sleep paralysis happen to me again?

Asked: Wil sleep paralysis happen to me again?

so the other day I got up and I had only had about 7 hours of sleep (give or take a little, less than 8) and I got up for an hour-90 minutes and then I went back to bed, I kept waking an being half asleep and being completely asleep, it was going in and outuntil I decided to get up but I couldn't move for like 30 seconds! I was looking at sleep pyralisis and lucid dreams and they were saying to have a lucid dream do why I did and that will make you have a lucid dream which happens when you have sleep pyralisis so I think that maybe me getting up then going back to bed made that happen. is that right?

I think I had a Lucid Dream?

Asked: I think I had a Lucid Dream?

Hi I'm 16 years old and the other night I had a surreal dream(it was a nightmare) that a man was chasing me around the town where I lived trying to kill me. When I say surreal I mean I felt like I was actually running and had an adrenaline rush flowing through my body like I was actually being chased. Anyway the following morning I woke up and it had felt like I had spent the whole night crying in my sleep, my eyes were full of sleep (the stuff you get in your eyes in the morning) and I just had a feeling like I had been crying, it's hard to explain, but the weird thing was I can remember in my dream me crying at one stage, and I can weirdly remember the majority of the dream when normally I can only remember parts or none at all. I am just wondering what happened? Was it a lucid dream? I told my parents and they thought that I had sleep walked but this is very unlikely. Some answers please cheers guys xx icon smile I think I had a Lucid Dream?

what do these dreams mean? (10 points best answer)?

Asked: what do these dreams mean? (10 points best answer)?

So I seem to go through cycle's where i'll have lucid dreams which are really detailed and over the past few nigths its being happening again.

So on Friday it began with this dream where I was murdered to death, I remember running away and panicing and I could control where I ran but I didn't managed to escape so I was stabbed, then I woke up as soon as I'd been stabbed succsessfully but oddly the enemy had a really bad aim. Oh but I couldn't tell who the enemy was XD it was just a girl with a black mast on.

Then on Satuday I didn't dream.

But I certainly did last nigth:

The first dream I was just at work in the shoe shop where I work at weekends (its my summer job as I'm only 16) but I had to run around finding tissue paper of all bright colours. So I have no idea what that one meant.

Then the second I was flying through space in a spacecraft with a team of astronauts. There were 6 of us in totall, but one of them did resemble a potato. None of the team memebers looked like my friends or family but one of them looked like an actress who I know, just from randomly watching a tv show a few times and no the Tv show wasn't related to space. Though I was watching a programme on asteroids last night so that may help to explain it XD. But the odd thing was I did again, except this time I remember going through the full process of dieing if that makes sense before waking up soI went through the whole tunnel of white light thing.

The the last dream I had last night was quite a nice one, I was just swimming in this swimming pool, except it was a huuuuge swimming pool and it had a thing wall seperating it from a next pool. It started with me just swimming up to the wall on my own, then a friend of mine from school just swam and we swam together for a bit before my crust joined me and we just kind of joked about in the swimming pool like we always do when we're together. The pool was also shallow if that helps because I could stand up in it.

So yes I'm utterly confused right now!!

Any help would be really appreciated as I've always been fascinated by dream meanings!

(Also sorry if there any spelling mistakes I'm writing this as soon as I've woken up becuase they're all fresh in my mind now)

Lucid dreaming – how do you deal with issues of the functionality of objects and body parts?

Asked: Lucid dreaming – how do you deal with issues of the functionality of objects and body parts?

I have been inducing lucid dreams forover two years now and one thing that is you notice is that objects and well, certain body parts (limbs, male genetalia) lack functionality, that is it doesn't look or work the way it does in waking life, they tend to be wonky (even walls). Is there anything I can do to improve on this quality in dreams. And please rational answers, this isn'ta joke nor is it crazy. If you could control your dreams and dream anything you want, wouldn't you choose sex too? Among other things like flying but get my point.
So thanks for any answers and suggestions.

Lucid dreaming without trying? What Causes it?

Asked: Lucid dreaming without trying? What Causes it?

When i was younger I had a few lucid dreams, but I didn't know what they were. About a year ago I found a journal in my brothers room and when I asked him about it he said it was a dream journal and explained the whole lucid dreaming thing to me. After that I was going to try the whole writing down your drams and reality check thing for myself but I always forgot and didn't get past the first day ahahaha. So about a weeklater (after not having a lucid dream for about 5 years) I was in a normal dream and suddenly became lucid…I got really excited and woke myself up icon sad Lucid dreaming without trying? What Causes it? … I had lucid dreams I think twice after this before learning not to get to excited and wake myself up.

I only very rarely have lucid dreams and I wan't to know what might cause them. I know they don't occur whenI talk about them(tested it) … and I was wondering if anyone else does lucid dreams without trying and if they know how they do it. I really want to have lucid dreams more often but I would like to find other alternatives before resorting to the whole dream journal and reality check stuff.

Also, I find when I lucid dream, either I stay in the dream I was in before and just go along with everything that's happening and control the stuff that seems dangerous (once a group of guys came up and started kicking me so I put them on the other side of the room) or I realise I'm dreaming and all the furniture and people I am with disappear (this is what happens if I'm in a house, if i'm outside everything disappears but I can usually conjure some kind of setting up) … I've found that when I'm in the houses I can't do anything or manipulate my surroundings and I end up trying to wake myself up because theres nothing to do (I now know for next time to go outside and explore the house or something) … last night I got quite scared when this happened because it was night and the house was pitch black except for one light… and as much as I tried I couldn't conjure up a person or anything (I think it was because I was scared :/ )

anyway, if you could suggest some ideas of what I can do in these situations and how to lucid dream more often that would be fantastic icon smile Lucid dreaming without trying? What Causes it?

Thanks <3

How to lucid dream more often? And I heard dream mirrors can be scary?

Asked: How to lucid dream more often? And I heard dream mirrors can be scary?

I would like to know how to lucid dream on a semi-regular basis. I've only had one lucid dream before. I was in a city that I had dreamt about before. I thought, "Wait, I've had this dream before… SWEET I'M LUCID DREAMING! I wanna fly!" I flew around this dream city for a bit and then I woke up. I didn't really get to do much in this dream. So I would like to learn how to do this more often. I do some "reality checks" throughout the day and keep a dream journal. I dream often enough, I just can't seem to become aware that I'm dreaming. So how can I learn to lucid dream more often?

Oh, and when I dream I'm not usually myself, I'm usually someone else going through through their life. Would I still be able to lucid dream then? If I do lucid dream in this situation will I still be me or this other person?

Also, the pages I looked at said to avoid mirrors because you might see something scary (like a demon) that isn't you, or a really deformed you. I'm not all that scared of demons and crap but seeing a deformed version of me would probably freak me out. Are they really that bad? What are some of the worst things you've seen in a dream mirror?

im having weird dreams?

Asked: im having weird dreams?

i have really weird dreams and i'd just like to have a simple, normal dream, y'know, going on a date or dlying.
but no.

The most memorable ones are form a month ago, and one about a dragon from when i was 6?
Lets start with the one from a month ago.
Me and my friends were after missing our bus and the school had just made up a rule that students who miss the bus have to spend the night (even if you can walk or hitch a lift) that was the basic idea.
I have an idea where that dream came from, as the day before i had a dream like this:
me and my friends were accused of bullying this anoying girl, so the teachers wanted to talk to us. We were gonna sneak out but alas, we missed the bus so we had to stay over night. The schools chaplin (scariest guy alive 1890-2013) was coming down the hall so we hid in corners, (i crawled onto the roof? wow whats gravity) then the school turned into an endless hallway and whenever a teacher came by we had these attics we could jump into on the roof. we went into the hall and our music teachers were there dressed in showgirl corests, (one red with sparkles and one blue) with matching heels and top hats. they turned the hall into a theatre just for us to teach us how bad bullying was? then we went into the maths room were our teacher (who is actually our sphe teacher) made us make dolls. we escaped and hid in a room, practising for our band when the girl we were "bulling" came in. I forget the rest but i know i went upstairs and saw my english teacher (hes like 44) in a pink bath robe and a face mask on….
Please dont say i have a guilty concious, im not bullying a girl in real life, were acutally quite close.

Another thing is, whenever I dream, i always try to fly but most of the times it fails or i wake up. and i cant blink, i blink in my dreams and i wake up. Not just flying, whenever i lucid dream nothing works. i'm like "okay, youre dreaming, imagine youre on a date and blah blah blah, it doest work.
The only time i actually flied was when i was on an apartment roof with a plastic bag over my head and the bag basically meant i could fly. (it might have something to do with the fact no one would stop playing that katty perry's **** song firework.
so yeah, why?
