Astral projection… Help?!?

Asked: Astral projection… Help?!?

If you don't believe in any of this stuff don't even bother in answering because your just wasting your own time!
My sister in laws mum was a white witch before she passed away, she was teaching my mum about it all. My mum is psychic (spelling?) and I have gotten that from her a little bit but I don't practice with it or anything like she has done over the years to make it any stronger. One thing we both do though is astral projection, although I've always called it astral travel. I first did it by accident when I was little, I would feel like I was laying the opposite way on my bed, then I'd open my eyes and see I'm not really there, I'd have this weird feeling like I'm being snapped back into that position and for some reason I liked that feeling, so I started doing it on purpose but I never new what it was called or that other people could do it. Since getting older I told my mum about it and she explained to me what it is and told me she and my sister is laws mum did it plenty of times but also said its really dangerous. I stopped doing it for a while because I was scared, but lately I've been trying to do it again. When I do it now I get this weird feeling that's hard to explain, I find I can't do it as easily and feel almost like I'm shaking? I don't know how it explain it. How come I used to be able to do it, but find it difficult to now? And what are the dangers? I mean I saw insidious but I thought it's a lode of crap, is that movie all fake or could that really happen? Thanks.

A little help with Astral Projection?

Asked: A little help with Astral Projection?

First of all, I'd like only serious answers…It would also be better if you actually do or have done astral projection…I just want to know a few things about it, I'm really curious on this subject but I see different details everywhere….like I want to know its dangers, but some say there are none while others say there is…or some say that it's highly unlikely to run into "Dark Entities" while other say it happened on their first try…just things like that.. I'm going to list all my questions, and whoever can answer the most with best detail will get best answer….
1) Are there Dangers of Astral Projection?
2) What Exactly are these "dark entities"? Are they any harm? Can they do anything to you? Are there good entities?
3) Are there any benefits out of astral projection?
4)Is it true that once you learn it, it's something that will almost permanently stay? And you gain "physic ability's" from it?
5) (this is just because of insidious) Can a dark entity (powerful or not) try and succeed at taking over your body while astral?
6) Overall, is it a good or bad experience? (I've gotten many answers from friends on this one, but they've only tried It once or twice)
These questions mainly come out from things I've found on the Internet, but most are all over the place…please help me if you can, thanks!

What are the dangers of astral projection?

Asked: What are the dangers of astral projection?

I've been doing some casual research on astral projection, but I'm having trouble figuring out exactly what dangers there are. Some places say the "silver thread" can't be severed, while others say it can. Then there are sites/authors which insist you won't run into negative entities, and others say it's quite possible to find demons or evil spirits. For those of you who have actually astral projected, what do you say? Are there dangers, and if so, what are they?

Serious answers only, please. Thank you!

Dangers of sleep paralysis?

Asked: Dangers of sleep paralysis?

I have been researching lucid dreaming for a short while and it's very interesting though i came across a topic called sleep paralysis.
Something where you wake up paralyzed and you see stuff out of the ordinary and have frightening hallucinations for a few seconds to a few minutes.
I then became very cautious, slept with my light on, and avoided anything known to cause sleep paralysis such as binaural beats before sleeping and trying to lucid dream/lucid dreaming techniques cause i know i have two GREAT fears possibly my only fears but they frighten me more than anything else.. I'm even too frightened to mention these two fears right now. I know I'll have a heart attack or go into a panic attack Even at the age of 16 or something from seeing **** like this and having sleep paralysis.
But i still would like to try and lucid dream…
Could anyone tell me the dangers of sleep paralysis, binaural beats, and lucid dreaming?
Or ways of preventing sleep paralysis?
Anything you know should help.

The dangers of Astral Projection? How to know if you’ve encountered a demon?

Emma Asked: The dangers of Astral Projection? How to know if you’ve encountered a demon?

Ok so, I've only astral projected once, when I was thirteen ( I am now 14) & it was the weirdest thing that had ever happened to me. I'd fallen asleep on the couch, woken up & suddenly felt these weird, electrical currents or "vibrations" that were starting at my head an gong the length of my body. I tried to call out to tell my mom ( she was in the kitchen, me the living room ) but I could only manage a weak whisper. Suddenly, it was like I was falling, or blacking out, & I had this weird, light sensation. Then all of a sudden I was walking down the what the people in my neighbourhood called the "river road" because it lined the river. It was winter , as it was also winter in "real" life , or the life my physical body was living any ways. It was very clear, crystal clear. I could even see fog from my "breathing" It was beautiful, too. Then I came back to my physical body, & the vibrating sensations had stopped for a moment… the t.v was on, and I thought maybe the t.v was causing me to have a seizure ( my mom has grand mal seizures, I'd thought for a moment that I'd inherited them or something) I reached for the remote, my arm jerked or something, and the remote crashed to the floor. My mom heard it and called out from the kitchen, I said it was OK, I'd just knocked the remote. I managed to turn the t.v. off, and then all of a sudden, I started to feel the vibrations again. ( & this was with NO concentrating or trying to feel them again) I think I'd broken out in goosebumps..I could feel my hair rising anyways. And then I became consciously aware that if I wanted to, I could make myself go back to that winter place. You know that static that appears when you rub/press on your eyes? Well, all of a sudden, that was all that I could see ( & I hadn't rubbed/pressed on my eyes) suddenly, I was falling down this black , well shaped thing. & then I was back on the road. I fell somehow, against a broken wire fence. OK, you know the tasmanian devil from bugs bunny, how fast and blurred he is when he's in one of his tornado rages?Well, from down the road, there was this blur of hands and the colour red speeding down the road at an impossible speed. When it stopped in front of me, it was this guy wearing a red sweater & a yellow scarf, who amazingly looked JUST like this guy from my school who I'd always found hot. He was smiling & offering me a hand to help me up. He was talking as well, but I can no longer remember what he was saying.
& then suddenly, I was back in my physical body & was able to get up and tell my mom what had happened. She said that the guy could've been a bad spirit, trying to take me from my physical body. I just wondered if there was any way to know if he was a demon or bad entity, & what the other dangers of astral projection were.

Is this a step to astral projection?

Minato Namikaze Asked: Is this a step to astral projection?

I just wanna know if what has been happening to me lately is something that is a required step to astral projection. You see, several times, I completely fall asleep, and then my mind stirs up(without the movement of my body) and it feels as if I forgot to breathe, because I exhale and then I doze off into an even more deeper sleep which is scary because I don't want to die because I forgot to breathe or something. Can anyone explain to me what is happening? What is this?

Astral plane/lucid dreaming?

Rozlyn Asked: Astral plane/lucid dreaming?

(Please stay with me here. I just want to give a quick little update on what's going on with me before I give my questions, in the hope that… the answers will be what I'm looking for… I guess? lol )

Hey, I'm 16 years old and I just recently got interested in lucid dreaming and the astral plane. As far as lucid dreaming goes, I've been practicing my dream recall and reality checks. Although, I've not yet trained myself to trigger a lucid dream through reality checks yet, my dream recall is getting a little better (seeing as before, I was lucky if I remembered one dream a month… I've gotten myself to the point where I can remember maybe four dreams a week).
As far as the astral plane goes… I don't know, but I'm really curious about it. I know people that have done astral travel before but for them it was only something that happened randomly for them. Is astral travel dangerous? And if so, then why? I've heard that astral travel was only safe and easy to achieve if you're experienced with lucid dreaming… is this true? And I've also heard that during astral travel, 'something' could take over your body like something out of the movie Insidious. Could someone clear this up for me on all the dangers and what not?
I just recently went to a metaphysical store and bought some stones/crystals that were suppost to help with lucid dreaming and aid in astral travel, do you believe that these actually work? I also bought mugwort and Anna Riva's Astral Travel Oil… has anyone ever tried it? If so, then what affects did it have on you during use? I have yet to make my attempt in using it. icon smile Astral plane/lucid dreaming?

So, this being summed up, here are my questions:
- Does anyone have any good reality checks that work well for them or any other advice on lucid dreaming?
- Is astral travel dangerous? If so, then why?
- When do I know that it will be safe for me to astral travel/how do I get to the astral plane through lucid dreaming if not meditation?
- What affects did Anna Riva's Astral Travel Oil have on you/how did you use it?
- What is astral travel like? I've almost done it once I think, and I felt myself rising out of my body and I could feel vibrations of some sort but then I got scared because I didn't really understand what was happening so I was pulled or came back to my body, I suppose. e-o
- During astral travel, can you choose where you want to go? If so, how?
- Do stones and crystals actually help in lucid dreaming and astral travel?

Anything helps! Thanks. icon smile Astral plane/lucid dreaming?

(And because I've seen this apear in many other "answers" regarding this subject on Yahoo: no, I'm not currently involved with the cult, nor do I plan on being. I'm not being 'tempted' by said 'cult' either. And nor am I a follower of Satan… I'm Christian, to all those whom it concerns. So this being said… don't bring it up. Thank ya. icon biggrin Astral plane/lucid dreaming? )

Is Lucid Dreaming Dangerous?

The sholucid dreaming dangerous 300x200 Is Lucid Dreaming Dangerous?rt answer is “No”, however, it also depends on your definition of “dangerous”.

Lucid dreaming is merely the realization that one is dreaming.  That alone is not dangerous.  People sometimes confuse lucid dreaming for other sleep activity such as astral projection or out of body experiences (OBE’s).  Venturing beyond lucid dreaming may be considered as having more of a risk, but that is for another post.  For this post, let us focus on lucid dreaming.

I have read of a behavior that can occur after one becomes better at lucid dreaming which might be considered dangerous.  People, apparently, have been know to get a little obsessed or rather addicted to lucid dreaming.  As a result, those people are noted to spend an unhealthy amount of time sleeping in order to dream lucidly.  Being a lucid dreamer myself, I have a hard time judging people who sleep too much in order to have more lucid dreams because this type of dreaming is truly amazing.  The power that the dreamer can have and the beauty found in the dream state is profound.  However, too much of anything is not usually a good thing.

In case it isn’t obvious, sleeping too much means that you are missing real life.  This is, of course, relative to each person’s life.  In general, a person should live their life to the fullest.  On a physical note, it is possible to cause real physical harm by sleeping too much.  Less time moving around means muscle mass is reduced making for a weaker body.  Your body also builds up toxins the longer you sleep.  So, the moral here is, make the most out of the sleep that you have to have each night.  Get better at lucid dreaming and enjoy your nightly slumber.  There is nothing wrong with getting a full night’s rest, just don’t waste the time you could be living in the real world to do more of what you have to do every night anyway…. sleep.

There is no real way to guarantee to anyone that lucid dreaming won’t lead you to other things such as astral projection, but I will say that it is extremely unlikely that you will randomly have an out of body experience unless you had some desire to do so.  It is difficult enough to experience such things out of purpose let alone by accident.  Most of the things that can be done while sleeping appear to be largely based on the sleeper’s intention and desire.  Simply put, if you only intend to dream lucidly, chances are very high that lucid dreaming is all you will do.

The only other thing that might make lucid dreaming seem dangerous is the excitement level that the dreamer may experience from time to time.  A person who has heart trouble or some sort of a health condition that is affected by excitement or the adrenaline created in the body when excited may be at some level of risk.  Just realizing you are dreaming can be an exhilarating experience.  So, anyone concerned about this type of condition should be cautious and possibly consult a physician.  The counter to this though is that, really any dream could cause this level of excitement… so, in my opinion, a lucid dream poses no more risk of excitement than a regular dream.

In 20 years of lucid dreaming, I have never had a problem nor experienced anything resulting from a lucid dream that I would come close to considering to be dangerous.  I have only had benefits from lucid dreaming and at the very least, I have had pleasant nightmare-free dreams.

I hope you give it a try and discover the wonderful world that exists in your head.  You can read more about lucid dreaming dangers by navigating from the main page.
