Lucid Dreaming Benefits

There is a powerful resource available that most people are not aware of.  Even most of the people who are aware of it, are not aware of how to take advantage of it.  That resource is the human brain.

Since we use only a small portion of our brains, it seems valid to conclude that we as people have not come close to reaching our potential.  In the recent years, science and general interest groups (you and me) are coming to find that one of the ways to tap into that potential is through the doorway of our dreams.  Dreaming is the brain’s way of sorting out problems and processing experiences from our waking life.  For the most part, this happens automatically and the dreamer is typically an observer at the whim of the dream.

Well, there is a way to do more than just observe your dreams.  By realizing you are dreaming, you can enjoy a number of benefits and improve a wide variety of aspects of your life. Realizing that you are dreaming is known as lucid dreaming.  As a lucid dreamer, you have the choice to participant and even take charge of your dream state.

There are different areas of science that have shown that the parts of the brain which respond to physical actions when a person is awake also respond when those same actions are imagined. This is sometimes referred to as “mental practice of action” or “motor imagery”.  There have been studies in sports that have shown that athletes who imagined practicing performed the same or better than those who practiced for real.

This effect can be magnified in the dream state. In our dreams we are limited by nothing but our own thoughts and imagination.  Some of the things that you can improve through lucid dreaming are physical or mental skills, aid healing, rehabilitate injuries, and even tap into a higher conscious.

Lucid Dreaming Benefits – Improving Creativity And Problem Solving

By the very nature of repetition, you can improve just about any type of skill.  Would you agree that if you spent time being creative that your level of creativity would increase?  Painters get better because they continue to paint, writers get better because they continue to write.  When you focus on something, quite naturally that something is improved.  Through lucid dreams, you can explore thoughts and ideas to a fuller degree.  Since you are not limited by real world obstacles, you can approach problems in new ways and think out of the box.

Inventors and scientists throughout time have attributed some of their successes to solutions they have found in their dreams.  Imagine what you could accomplish, solve, or create if you intentionally made use of the powers of lucid dreaming.

Some lucid dreamers report being able to interact with people in their dreams to get answers to important questions.  Some even say that you can communicate with your spirit guide while dreaming lucid.  Imagine if you could get the answers to your most burning questions simply by asking your dreams.  You could even unlock some long hidden away knowledge which is normally not available to you.  You have the pieces to the puzzles of your life stored away in your mind.  They are there ready for you to take; you just have to take them.

Your dreams are made of almost pure creative thought.  Most, if not all, of your dream content comes from you.  By taking an active role in that unencumbered environment, you may very well find that your creativity and problem solving will be improved.

Lucid Dreaming Benefits – Improving Confidence And Overcoming Fears

All of us have varying comfort levels for the things we encounter in our lives.  Some people have trouble speaking in public, talking to women, or just interacting with people in general.  There are a wide variety of fears and anxieties that plague our lives.  Fear of water, heights, open doors, the dark, being in public, and countless others keep people from living normal happy lives.

The dream state can act as a safety net of sorts.  You have the opportunity to swim in waters you would never step foot in, walk on the tops of tall buildings, give a speech to an auditorium filled full of people and anything else you wouldn’t normally do.  By experiencing it in a controlled lucid dream, you break down some of the fears making it easier to overcome them when you are awake.

When a person is awake, there isn’t generally an chance to try something before just doing it.  For some people, those first steps are impossible because of lack of confidence or fear.  Having a chance to try it in the dream state first can allow you to take those first steps.

Lucid Dreaming Benefits – Astral Projection And Out Of Body Experiences

Some lucid dreamers use dreams as a starting point or doorway to astral projection; also known as an “out of body experience”.  Some believe that dreams are not merely a projection of your thoughts and imagination, but rather can also be a connection to a higher conscious.  There are some scientists, such as Dr. Thomas Campbell, who have made great strides in the areas of lucid dreaming and astral projection as a means to explore alternate realities.

Lucid Dreaming Benefits – Ridding yourself of a nightly affliction

Imagine being more rested.  Leave behind the days where you are tortured nightly; tossing and turning in fear and anxiety.  Imagine being less stressed.  Let the pressures of the world roll off of your shoulders.  Imagine being the scariest thing in the deep dark forests of your mind.  Imagine flying at will over the ground… over the trees… over the clouds.  Imagine falling down the well of your mind only to find there is no bottom.  Lucid dreaming can be the most enjoyable and amazing experience you have ever had.  It can be a life saver and it can be a doorway to the inner powers of your mind.

It is possible to eliminate nightmares from your life through the lasting effects of lucid dreaming.  Once you get the hang of taking control of your dreams, you may find that you no longer have nightmares. As a matter of fact, since I have been lucid dreaming, I never have a dream that I can consider to be a bad dream.  The worst thing that ever occurs in my dreams result in a fade out of the dream.  In most cases, even when the events of my dreams are extreme, I find that I remain in control and suffer no ill effects.

I have been shot, stabbed, drowned, cut with a laser, and have fallen from the sky.  I can remember before I ever learned to lucid dream, that if anything close to these would have happened to me in my dream, I would have found it terrifying and usually I would have woken abruptly sweating and filled with fear.  Now, the same type of events are amusing and exciting.  They become just a acceptable part of the dream.

I have remained nightmare free and have only had great dreams since learning to lucid dream.  In addition, for well over a decade, I didn’t even put much effort into trying to lucid dream.  I merely let my dreams happen.  Sometimes I would realize control in the dream and other times I would just go with the flow, but in all cases, the dreams were pleasant at worst.

In short, lucid dreaming offers a wide variety of applications from better rest and more enjoyable dreams to overcoming fears and tapping into a higher conscious.  I can say personally that I have benefited greatly from lucid dreaming.  If nothing else, it is one of the most enjoyable experiences to be able to be in control of the wildest environments such as those found in dreams.

I hope you find it as useful and enjoyable as I have.  Lucid dreaming appears to be a growing trend as people learn how to use a larger portion of the mind’s potential.  Ask around and do a little digging and definitely try it yourself.  I think you will be truly amazed.
