you have no control over that. it happens when it happens. ive had it plenty of times to were i try to control the themes of my dream but it dosent always work. you could try napping in the day for a lil and then goingto sleep early at night so your not tired enough to just sleep through your dreams.

Start writing down as much as you can remember about your dreams every morning when you wake up. This will train your brain to start paying more attention to your dreams while you're asleep. Something that's been working for me is to ask yourself a few times a day, "am i awake or dreaming?" When you do this often, you have a higher chance of unconsciously thinking it while you're asleep and realizing you're dreaming. Also, meditating before going to sleep helps a lot. Try very hard to slow down your mind and block out noise, thoughts, etc.
I've been doing this for awhile and had lucid dreams about a week after i started trying, but it doesn't work that way for everyone. Don't get discouraged, it just takes practice!
